Q: How do I know if I have a hearing
loss?
A: The best way to find out is to visit an Audiologist. If you
are wondering, why not take a few minutes and find out for sure? Often
the person who has a hearing loss is unaware of the loss, or the
extent of the loss. If someone close to you tells you they
think you have a hearing loss they
often are right. People often don't know how much of their
life they are missing.
If you:
- Seem to have difficulty hearing things other people hear.
- Find yourself asking other to repeat themselves often.
- Want the TV turned up louder than other people want.
- Have difficulty hearing in meetings, church, or restaurants.
- Or just feel you aren't hearing things other people are hearing.
Then you would want to have your hearing evaluated.
Q: Will a hearing loss just go away?
A: Most hearing loss that is related to the normal ageing process or to exposure to noise over time will not go away on it's own. Your Audiologist can help you determine the cause, extent, and likely prognosis of your hearing loss.
Q: Will it hurt?
A: No, a hearing evaluation does not hurt, and it normally takes
less than an hour.
Q: What will it cost?
A: A quick call to our office will enable us to tell you what the
cost to you will be. The cost is different depending upon the
kind of evaluation to be performed and what insurance plan you may
be able to use. With a short discussion we can tell you in
advance.
